The carrier and guide unit for adjustable vehicle seats has a pair of fixed rails (18) which are C-shaped with bent upper (20) and lower (22) shanks in which are held slide units (26a,26b). Each slide unit consists of a slide plate (50) on whose upper edge (52) and lower edge (54) are slide pieces (56,58) of low friction plastics tubing. Riveted to the slide plate (50) is a reinforcement plate (60a,60b). One reinforcement plate (60b) has an outward displaced section which carries a fixture for a seat belt.
