The upper end of the outer surface (1) of the container is provided with a filling edge and lid edge reinforcement (31) which secures it against random opening and allows repeated opening and reclosing of the plastic container. The lid (11) is anchored on the container by means of locking members (19) arranged distributed over the lid edge, it being possible for clamping lugs (6) present on the container edge (2) to be brought into engagement by means of blocking tabs (33). The blocking tabs (33) are present on a peripheral securing ring (31) which is inserted into the lid edge so as to be axially displaceable. When the plastic container is closed, firstly the lid edge is pressed onto the container edge (2), as a result of which a sealing edge (3') on the container-side sealing flange forms the container seal together with a compressible annular seal (17). The securing ring (31), which was previously placed on the lid edge in an extended position, is inserted telescopically into the lid edge, the blocking tabs (33) on the securing ring placing the locking members (19) against the clamping lugs (6) and producing a mechanical connection between the container edge and the lid edge. The closing and opening operation can be carried out as often as desired without material wear. <IMAGE>
