PURPOSE:To obtain a lubricating mechanism which is stable for a long period of time despite the use of a recording medium of an alloy magnetic film, by using a nonmagnetic matter containing oil and having high hardness to produce a nonmagnetic base material. CONSTITUTION:A part of the side face of a square column alumina block 4 containing oil and having high hardness is cut in parallel to the axis to form a groove 5. A columnar nonmagnetic ceramic block 2 having higher hardness than the block 4 is buried into the groove 5. Then the side of the block 4 where the block 2 is buried is polished into a mirror surface, and a soft magnetic thin film 3 is formed on the mirror surface. Then a checkered magnetic pole of a prescribed track width is formed by an etching process. An alumina block 4' containing a nonmagnetic ceramic block 2' is polished, and the block 2 is adhered to the block 2' one upon another. The nonmagnetic base materials 1 and 1' can be made impregnated with the lubricating oil because the materials may contain oil. Thus a lubricating mechanism is obtained.
