METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONDITIONING QUALITY OF EXCAVATED MUD

PURPOSE:To condition the quality of excavated mud immediately at the site of excavation by adequately controlling conveying speed in the apparatus and the amt. of solidifying or mixing agent to be fed in accordance with the viscosity of mud ejected with progress of excavation. CONSTITUTION:When mud is continuously conveyed with the first screw conveyor 11 to the second screw conveyor 51, bridging due to high viscosity mud is prevented by passing it through a bridge breaker 18, and it is conveyed to the second conveyor 51 without delay. The second conveyor 51 is controlled in terms of rotation speed by detecting the quality of the conveyed mud, such as viscosity, with a torque meter 58 fixed to the shaft of the conveyor 51. A mixing or solidifying agent for controlling the viscosity of the mud or its solidification is fed in a predetermined rate to a mix ing and stirring device 30 to condition the mud for a necessary use and to enable reuse of it.
