PURPOSE:To perform trimming correctly and simply without damaging a phosphor film by a method, in which laser light is applied from outside a bulb along the periphery of the bulb, while thermally decomposing a lacquer film by laser light followed by trimming the undesired part of the lacquer film with a running water. CONSTITUTION:A supporting member 12 forming a hollow part 14 on the free end is movably fitted into the cylindrical base proper through an elastic member 13, while a roller 15 whose axis is rotatably supported, is inserted into said hollow part 14 and a rod lens 16 is fixed to one of the tips of the supporting member 12, an optical fiber 17 is connected to the rod lens 16, while the optical fiber 17 is connected to a laser light source. While said trimming device is moved along the outer periphery of the funnel part, laser light is applied from outside the bulb for thermally decomposing the lacquer film 7 in circular form to form a circular groove 18 dividing the lacquer film 7 into top and bottom. Next, water is spouted from a nozzle for washing off the undesired part of the lacquer film 7 thus to finish trimming. |
