PURPOSE:To enable improvement in coupling efficiency of light by pressing the end face of an optical transmission line consisting of a multicored optical fiber to the exposed end face of a single cored optical fiber thereby coupling the fibers. CONSTITUTION:A photodetecting and lihgt emitting element pellet 1 is placed on a supporting base plate 2 formed of an insulating material. The lead terminals 3 connected to the electrodes of the pellet 1 are led out to the opposite side through the plate 2 and the through-part thereof is hermetically sealed. A cap member 4 is formed of a metallic material and is so provided as to enclose the pellet 1. The plate 2 is hermetically joined to the leg end of the member 4. A single cored optical fiber 5 formed to a short size is inserted to the inside through the member 4 and is so disposed that the one end thereof faces the photodetecting and light emitting surface of the pellet 1 in proximity thereto. |
