OPTICAL CONNECTOR

PURPOSE:To provide an optical connector having a small outside diameter by providing a sleeve in which a pair of ferrules are inserted respectively to align axially optical fibers and a grasping part to fit a pair of the ferrules inserted into said sleeve. CONSTITUTION:Ferrules 9 each concentrical with an optical fiber core 8 are integrally attached to the ends of the right and left optical fiber cores 8. Each ferrule 9 is of a cylindrical shape and is provided with a flange part 10 as a part to be grasped. The right and left ferrules 9 are inserted into a sleeve 11 respectively from both sides. The sleeve 11 aligns the axial centers of the cores 8 to each other by means of the ferrules 9 inserted therein. A pair of the right and left ferrules 9 inserted in the sleeve 11 is fitted into a housing 12 for fixing. The housing 12 has grasping parts 12a having elasticity on the right and left and a groove 12 for fitting of the ferrule 9 is formed at the center of each grasping part 12a.
