PURPOSE:To obtain a stable main scanning synchronous rotation by driving a cylinder only with a synchronous motor after the end of tracking and disconnecting a tracking motor from the power transmission system of the synchronous motor side so as to decrease wear of the power transmission system of the synchronous motor side. CONSTITUTION:When a power supply is thrown, a synchronous motor 4 for main scanning starts rotation at first and drives a worm wheel 17 and a sensor board 21 via a worm 16. In starting a tracking motor 5 and also coupling a clutch at a tracking motor side, a main shaft 8 is driven in the same direction as the turning direction of the worm wheel 17 at the synchronous motor side and a cylinder 1 is rotated incorporatedly with the main shaft 8. Then a recessed part 14 of a meshing plate 12 and a claw body 13 are meshed and the cylinder 1 is turned synchronizingly. The clutch at synchronous motor is connected at the point of time when the tracking is finished and the clutch for tracking motor is disconnected, then the cylinder 1 is brought into the state driven by the synchronous motor 4 only, and the load is not operated onto the power transmission system of the synchronous motor 4 from the tracking motor 5.
