PURPOSE:To correct the phase shift even if the cycle of the reproduction signal given from an information recording medium is varied in a reproduction mode, by adding sepcific codes before and after a modulated signal given every scan line of the picture information and recording these codes. CONSTITUTION:The preamble data and the postamble data are added to the head and the end of each picture information, and the picture data is recorded between these two data. When an access is given to a designated track sector position, a signal is delivered from a control circuit 66 for detection the head of a picture to start detection of a line synchronizing code at the picture head position. Then the jitter is produced in the timing to deliver the picture head detection signal, and this jitter is set within a range that can sufficiently cover the preamble length as well as a gap between two pieces of information. The synchronization is secured for the picture head position by delivering the picture head detection signal and at the same time detecting line synchronizing code. This is possible since the line synchronization is not detected with said gap and the preamble data.
