PURPOSE:To discriminate a failed I/O control device efficiently by ending the occupation by the I/O control device when the occupation of a common bus for refreshing a main storage device is interrupted. CONSTITUTION:A central processor 1, a bus control device 2, the main storage device 3, and I/O control devices 4, 5 are connected to the common bus 6. When the occupation of the common bus 6 for refreshing the main storage device 3 is interrupted by the long occupation by means of the I/O control devices 4, 5, data indicating specific numbers are held in the I/O control devices 4, 5 and collated and then the occupation by the I/O control devices 4, 5 is ended.
