PURPOSE:To prevent malfunction due to the contamination of an original detector and improve the reliability of a cleaning mechanism by rotating the original detector according to the opening/closing operation of a platen cover, and cleaning the tip of the detector with a cleaning member provided in the cover. CONSTITUTION:While the platen cover is closed, the sensor part 6 of the original detector 5 faces the surface of platen glass 3 so that the axial direction of a rod 4 is almost at right angles to the direction connecting fulcrums T3 and T4. When the platen cover 1 is opened, the fulcrum T1 of the cover and the fulcrum T2 of the rod are different from each other, so the original detector 5 is extended to the rod corresponding to the distance between T1 and T2, and the sensor part 6 rotates around the fulcrum T3 by about 90 deg.. At this time, the tip part of the sensor part 6 is rubbed against the cleaning member 7 provided in the platen cover 1 to clean up the tip part automatically. Thus, malfunction due to the contamination of the detector is prevented to improve the reliability. |
