PURPOSE:To reduce the self discharge of a storage battery by changing the storage battery with the output of a solar battery and agitating electrolyte by driving a stirrer by the output of the solar battery when the voltage of the storage battery becomes over a given level. CONSTITUTION:The output of a solar battery 1 is used to charge a storage battery 2 through both the contact (a) of a relay 9 and a diode 4. It is also supplied to a load 3. When the voltage of the storage battery 2 becomes over a given level, a signal is delivered from a charge-controlling circuit 5 to switch the relay 9 to its contact (b) through a timer circuit 8, thereby driving a stirrer 10 for a given time to agitate electrolyte contained in the storage battery 2. As a result, the charging with the solar battery 1 is not carried out at a large current, thereby preventing any large difference between the specific gravities of the upper part and the lower part of the electrolyte which might be caused due to long term use. Consequently, the self discharge of the storage battery 2 can be maintained minimum and the output of the solar battery 1 can effectively be utilized. |
