摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To enable zero-adjustment of valve lash, by a method wherein a part of valves can be brought to an inoperative state through engagement and disengagement of a normally-moving rocker arm with a follower rocker arm, and two rocker arms are supported to an eccentric shaft. CONSTITUTION:Pural suction valves or exhaust valves are mounted to a single cylinder, a normal valve is driven by a normally-moving rocker arm 12, and a valve, being brought to an operative or an inoperative state according to the operating condition of an engine, is driven by a follower rocker arm 13. The two rocker arms 12 and 13 are supported to a retainer shaft 16 through an eccentric sleeve 17. All valves are driven through engagement of a plunger 25, moving in and out from the normally moving rocker arm 12, with a cylinder 22 of the follower rocker arm 13, and by releasing them from engagement, a part of the valves are brought to an inoperative stage. An arm 18 of the eccentric sleeve 17 is turned by a hydraulic lash adjuster 19, and this causes zero-adjustment of valve lash.</p>
