PURPOSE:To dehydrate stably by controlling the revolving speed of a dehydrator on he basis of the filtration rate of dehydrator calculated from the flow rate and concn. of the slurry to be supplied to the dehydrator and the filtrate from the dehydrator. CONSTITUTION:The flow rate and concn. of the supply sludge and the flow rate and concn. of the filtrate are obtained as the signals of a supply sludge flowmeter 5, a supply sludge densitometer 8, a filtrate flowmeter 7, and a filtrate densitometer 15, and the filtration rate of the dry cake is calculated with an arithmetic unit 9. The filtration rate is controlled by regulating the revolving speed of the drum of the dehydrator in accordance with the sum of the output, corresponding to the difference between the set value and the calculated value of the filtration rate, and the output corresponding to the difference between the set value and the calculated value of the concn. of the supply sludge. Accordingly, the revolving speed of a driving motor 11 of the drum of the dehydrator is controlled by a regulator 14 on the basis of the output of a desired revolving speed value of said drum obtained from an arithmetic unit 10 and the output from a tachometer 6 of said drum.
