PURPOSE:To prevent deterioration in cleaning performance by holding the contacting angle of a tip of a blade to a photosensitive body constant and preventing an elastic plate and the blade from oscillating even when the blade is displaced in the moving direction of a photosensitive body by frictional force. CONSTITUTION:Tangential frictional force by the rotation of the photosensitive body 1 operates on the contacting point P' between the blade 13 and photosensitive body 1, and two elastic plates 10 and 11 are in a U-shape and have proper rigidity of deflection; and the blade 13 is only joined to one elastic plate 10, so almost all the force operating on the tip of the blade 13 is applied to the elastic plates 10 and 11 and controlled their deformation. Further, the free terminal length of the blade 13 is short, so the free terminal of the blade 13 moves in parallel and the angle theta' that the tangent to the point P' and the flank of the upstream-side tip part of the blade 13 contain has a little variation. Further, even when the elastic plates 10 and 11 and blade 13 vibrate owing to the surface state of the photosensitive body 1, the vibration is absorbed by viscous material 16 applied to the internal surfaces of the parallel elastic plates 10 and 11, so that there is no cleaning defect.
