PURPOSE:To perform high quality printing in proper color density, by forming a strip like continuous resistor from a resistor high in coefficient of resistance temp. while using at least a part of the aforementioned resistor as the generated heat temp. detecting part of a heat generator. CONSTITUTION:A thermal printing head 1 is constituted of a heat dissipating plate 2 fabricated of iron or aluminum and the insulating substrate 3 formed to the upper surface of said heat dissipating plate 2 and a strip like continuous resistor 4 is formed to the upper surface of the aforementioned substrate as a heat generator by screen printing. The aforementioned resistor 4 has a large number of dot parts and a current is selectively supplied to each dot part by electric circuits 5, 5 each constituted of IC. Because the aforementioned strip like continuous resistor 4 is formed of a resistor having high coefficient of resistance temp. of 500ppm/ deg.C or more, the entire generated heat temp. of the strip like continuous resistor 4 is subjected to self-control in a uniformizing direction.
