PURPOSE:To prevent a solidification interface from capturing released gas by providing a horizontal heating mold having a recessed section which is opened at the top on the side wall of a holding furnace, drawing out a molten metal with a metallic molding dummy brought into contact with the heating mold and cooling the same. CONSTITUTION:A heating mold 3 of a recessed section which contains a heating element 4 and is opened at the top is horizontally provided on the side wall of a holding furnace 1 contg. a molten metal 2 and a molten metal 2 is admitted therein. The top end of a metallic molding dummy 6 is preliminarily brought into contact with the inside of the furnace 3 and while the dummy 6 is cooled by a cooling means 7, the molten metal 2 is drawn out and is drawn horizontally as a metallic molding 9 by pinch rolls 8. Since the upper part of the mold 3 in such casting is held open, the position of the solidification interface is always exactly detected and the metallic molding 9 having the beautiful surface of the grain oriented solidification structure free from blowholes by gas is obtd.
