The present invention relates to a device making it possible to open, close, and carry out intermediate manoeuvres of telescopic covers of all waggons. The device is composed of a movable table 1 equipped with a platform with slideways 2 surmounted by a winding drum 3 equipped, for example, with a cord. The drum is driven either by a motor or manually. The principle of the invention consists in pressing the platform with slideways 2 onto a front wall of the waggon 20, and in applying a progressive and jerk-free longitudinal force to a single point of the waggon 16 with the aid of the cord equipped with a hook. <IMAGE>
