PURPOSE:To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery in which energy density is high, the shape of electrode is kept even after repeated charge-discharge cycle, and reliability is high by using negative material which absorbs alkali metal ion during charge and releases it during discharge. CONSTITUTION:Lead (85wt%)-cadmium (15wt%) alloy is used as negative material which absorbs and releases alkali metal ion during charge-discharge cycle. The above Pb-Cd alloy is rolled with a roller and the rolled plate is placed on a nickel expanded current collector which has slightly larger area than the rolled plate, and they are pressed to bond them. This pressed plate and a nickel expanded plate are fixed by spot-welding 8 points of the circumfernce and one point in the center. Nickel ribbon is attached to the current collector in which no Pb-Cd alloy exists by spot-welding to form an electrode. One metal or alloy comprising at least two elements selected from Sn, Bi, Pb, Cd, In, Hg, Sb, Zn, and Ag may be used as negative material. |
