According to the invention a judicious combination is made, by placing in position an appropriate plant, of the process of aerobic biological purification with free microorganisms and of aerobic biological purification with bound microorganisms by employing in the aeration tank 1 a plastic packing 4 with a high voidage coefficient, a high specific area and a structure allowing easy flow of the water and promoting the flocculation of the activated sludge.
