<p>The invention concerns a method for reducing iron oxides and smelting iron, characterised in that it comprises at least two consecutive steps, namely: a first conventional step of reduction up to a degree of metallisation of the order of 80 to 94 %, and preferably 85 to 90 % and of heating to a temperature higher than 1000 DEG C and at most to a temperature close to melting point; and a second step of feeding the metallised iron, lode, fluidizer and excess carbon mixture into a smelting furnace containing a cast iron melting phase, the metal and the slag being then removed, preferably continuously, by overflowing.</p> |
