PURPOSE:To obtain an oligomer of isobutene, in high selectivity, without losing 1-butene, by carrying out the selective oligomerization of isobutene in a hydrocarbon mixture containing isobutene and 1-butene, in the presence of a specific catalyst and a small amount of water, etc. CONSTITUTION:A hydrocarbon mixture containing isobutene and 1-butene is selectively oligomerized in a vapor phase or liquid phase at 20-180 deg.C under atmospheric pressure -100kg/cm<2> in the presence of water and/or a butanol such as secondary or tertiary butanol, etc. using a hydrogenated crystalline aluminosilicate catalyst, to obtain the dimer or higher oligomer of isobutene. The hydrogenated crystalline aluminosilicate is preferably the one having a molar silica/ alumina ratio (SiO2/Al2O3) of 30-500. EFFECT:The oligomerization of isobutene can be continued stably for a long period without causing the lowering of the catalytic activity, and the 1-butene can be recovered in high yield. |
