The level sensor is for substances which flow with difficulty. It may be for viscous liqs. or for powdery or granular materials which may be sticky and inclined to form arches and bridges in the container. The sensor uses a paddle (20) which either runs freely or is hindered from rotation when immersed in the material. The paddle is attached to a spring (17) which forms an extension of a shaft (8) mounted in ball-bearings (9,10). The shaft is rigidly fixed to the motor output shaft (7). The shaft bearings are accommodated in an aluminium stopper which may be screwed into the side of the container, and the motor housing (2,3) is connected to this stopper by screws. A ball bearing (30) acting as a slipping clutch applies a torque to a disc (31) with rotation sensors.
