A damping and resilient mounting esp. for large diameter pipes and ducts subject to dynamic loading is designed to be fitted between the (movable) duct and a rigid wall or other support. The mounting comprises a number of spacers (153, 154) arranged as an annulus around the pipe (130) to provide resilience but also damping of vibrations. In one embodiment (as shown), the mounting comprises alternate layers of smooth (153) and undulating (154) sheet metal strips, the crests of the undulations bearing against the smooth strips so that a certain friction exists between them during movement. In another variant, open cranked strips occupy the space in the annulus and bear against inner and outer faces. In a futher embodiment, a series of parallel strips, esp. of sheet metal, have spacer elements in rows between them, the elements of one row being staggered relative to those of the next row; these spacer elements may be studs or round bars and are welded to one of the flat strips adjacent to them.
