PURPOSE:To improve the rate of deposition of optical glass fine powder, and to stabilize the quality of optical fiber, by attaching plural gas distributors composed of assembled thin tubes of heat-resistant glass to the burner for forming fine glass powder. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of gas distributors 10,11 and 12 composed of assembled heat-resistant glass thin tubes a,a..., b,b..., c,c... are attached to the burner for forming fine glass powder for the manufacture of optical glass, and the middle parts of the thin glass tubes a,b,c are collected together. The tubes are arranged in a manner to place the end of the tubes a,b,c adjacent to each other, and to place the tubes b,b..., c,c..., dispersed from each other surrounding the tubes a,a.... The end parts of the tubes a,b,c are collected by the collecting pipe 13 to form a circular nozzle 14 for blasting the gas. Since the gas is blasted in a dispersed state by the use of the burner having the above structure, the gases are mixed homogeneously with each other, resulting in the improvements of the reaction efficiency, the rate of formation of powder and the rate of powder deposition. |
