PURPOSE:To correct exposure irregularity without the intervention of a complex, expensive physical nor mechanical means even when copy magnification varies by applying a voltage corresponding to exposure irregularity on a photosensitive body to a variable light transmittivity element. CONSTITUTION:Variable light transmittivity elements 9a and 9b constituting an exposure irregularity correcting member 8 vary in light transmittivity with applied voltages, and this correcting member 8 is provided on an optical path through which original scanning light is guided to the photosensitive body. The illuminance of an image formation part is lower and lower as the magnification is higher and higher in a copying machine which has variable copy magnification, but an user selects the copy magnification and operates a selection switch 12 to send a command to a control voltage generator 11 so that an optimum control voltage corresponding to the copy magnification is generated, and consequently the applied voltages to the variable light transmittivity elements 9a and 9b are set properly to control their light transmittivity so that the quantity of exposure is held optimum.
