PURPOSE:To prevent the attachment of fused metal to the outer wall of a metal base, by providing a surrounding projection around a projection for welding on the surface to be welded of a cover fixing piece. CONSTITUTION:At first, a surface to be welded 2a of a cover fixing piece 2 is made to face the outer wall of a metal base 1, and a mechanical force is applied to the outer wall of the metal base 1. When a welding current is conducted between the metal base 1 and the cover fixing piece 2, the temperature in the vicinity of the contact part is rapidly increased. The tip part of the welding projection 2c is softened and deformed. A surrounding projection 2d is contacted with the outer wall of the metal base 1. The fused metal is shielded by the surrounding projection 2d, which is already contacted with the outer wall of the metal base 1, and is not splashed to the outside but collected in the inside. The fused metal is solidified as a unitary body, and the welding is finished.
