<p>PURPOSE:The titled resin composition capable of forming a foam excellent in surface hardness, compressive strength, etc., by expansion and curing by heating, obtained by mixing a novolak phenolic resin with a curing agent, irreversively expandable microspheres, etc. CONSTITUTION:A novolak resin obtained by reacting a phenol with an aldehyde in the presence of an acidic catalyst is mixed with a curing agent (e.g., hexamethylenetetramine), a curing aid (e.g., calcium hydroxide), expandable microspheres which can expand irreversibly when heated (e.g., microspheres containing a low-boiling hydrocarbon), a surfactant (e.g., nonionic surfactant), a reinforcement (e.g., acrylonitrile/butadiene rubber), and a mold release (e.g., zinc stearate). A foam can be obtained by expanding and curing the resin composition by heating.</p> |
