For intensively rearing earthworms as a high-quality protein-containing animal feed and for producing high-quality fertiliser from earthworm faeces which is particularly suitable for vegetable and flower growing due to its water-binding capacity, a device is used which is filled with compostible waste materials, manure, liquid manure and, if appropriate, water, where, on the one hand, young earthworms and earthworm eggs which have been introduced find an optimal environment and which, on the other hand, is very easy to manipulate for filling, emptying and separating young earthworms, mature earthworms and faeces/humus. This allows the system to be manufactured and operated economically.
