PURPOSE:To generate a sharp vertical magnetic field at the time of recording, and to execute an operation in the same way as a ring head at the time of reproducing by using a head core having in a part of it a magnetic circuit which is saturated magnetically by a recording current, and generates no magnetic saturation by a reproducing magnetic field. CONSTITUTION:Cores 8, 8' and 9 have a ring-like structure, and the cores 8, 8' have a sufficiently large sectional area so that a magnetic saturation is not generated by a recording current. The core 9 is constituted of a magnetic material which has a high magnetic permeability and a small sectional area, or whose saturation magnetization is low. When a current is made to flow to coils 12, 12' from a recording signal generator 14, the cores 8, 8' are magnetized in the same direction and the core 9 is also magnetized, but they are magnetically saturated easily, and a sharp line of magnetic force 6''' in the vertical direction is generated in a gap 11. when reproducing, the line of magnetic force of a vertical magnetized film is returned to the vertical magnetized film through the gap 11, the core 8, the core 9 and the core 8'. |
