PURPOSE:To enable the uniform steaming treatment of raw tea leaves, by detecting the load current of the motor driving the rotary steaming drum and the stirring shaft of a tea steaming machine, and controlling the circulation speed of the leaf feeder. CONSTITUTION:The steaming machine A and the leaf feeder B are started to start the feed of raw tea leaves from the leaf feeder through the inlet port 5 into the steaming machine. The leaves are beaten with the stirring arms 7 of the stirring shaft 6 during the transport from the stationary steaming drum 4 to the rotary steaming drum 3, and exposed to and steamed with the steam sent from the steam chamber 8. The variation in the load is reflected in the variation in the load current of the motor 11 of the steaming machine. The load current is detected with the current transformer 17, and the detected current is converted to electrical potential by the current-voltage converter 18, averaged by smoothing circuit 19, and inputted to the motor control panel 15 of the leaf feeder. The rotational speed of the motor 14 of the leaf feeder B is controlled according to the inputted signal to adjust circulation speed of the conveyor belt 13 of the leaf feeder.
