PURPOSE:To solve a difficulty of magnetization by providing a groove on the surface of a permanent magnet of a tape sliding side, narrowing gradually a groove width, and executing a magnetization in the direction vertical to the groove. CONSTITUTION:A fringing preventive groove 2 is provided on a surface 1a side of a tape sliding side of a permanent magent 1. As for the groove 2, the groove width is made smaller gradually in the tape sliding direction, and also a width of each projecting part 3 between the grooves is made small in the same way. Also, a magnetic pole is generated on the projecting part 3 of the surface of the groove 2 by magnetizing in the direction vertical to the groove, and a magnetization is executed. Accordingly, a magnetic field of + and - is generated in the projecting part 3. In this case, an intensity of the magnetic field generated on the surface becomes small gradually as shown in the figure. Accordingly, a magnetic record can be erased, and a magnetization is executed easily.
