In feeding purging elements into the cooling-water flow of a tubular heat exchanger, it is customary to provide a feeder which opens in an approximately radial fashion into the cooling-water feed connecting piece upstream of the heat exchanger and has in the region of the axis of the connecting piece an outlet for the feeder, which has purging elements. In order to achieve a uniform distribution of the purging elements over the cross-section of the connecting piece, according to the invention the feeder (10) has on its inner end (11) a rotating attachment (12) with an outlet (16) for the purging elements (6) which covers at least part of the cross-sectional area outside the axis of the connecting piece. <IMAGE>
