The prosthesis with a hinged joint at the knee and ankle has a vertical rod (26) connecting them so that their movements are synchronised. The top of the rod is connected to a small cranked arm behind the knee cap (4), connected between two blocks (6,7) swinging about hinge pins (8,9). They have curved rear faces, with meshing sets of teeth (11,12). The bottom of the rod passes through a spring (63) above its anchorage point (27) above the ankle. This anchorage forms a connection with a block (23) forming the ankle and part of the heel. Between this block and the foot (3) is a ball joint (16) permitting a rocking action, controlled by two springs (20,21) one each side of a vertical central axis (YY) passing also through the rod. Under one spring (21) is a ball ended pressure member (34). |
