The dual brake master cylinder (1) comprises two bores (3, 4) running side by side in a housing (2), which with one working piston (6, 7) each form a working chamber (11, 12) connected to wheel brakes. The working chambers (11, 12) are separated pressure-tightly from one another by a compensating piston (72), which at each of the two ends is bounded by a compensating chamber (75, 76) having a pressure medium connection to the respective working chamber (11, 12). The compensating piston is formed in the working piston (6) and is limited in its movement by the stops (82, 83) in the housing (2). The compensating chamber (75) is connected to the working chamber (11) by way of the bore (88) and the compensating chamber (76) to the working chamber (12) by way of the pressure medium connection (77). <IMAGE>
