The pneumatic contact essentially has a piston comprising a pin (3) and a ring (4) connected to the pin, and is arranged so as to be displaceable in a conductive sleeve (2) connected to the current supply and is electrically connected thereto. The ring (4) forms a chamber (13) with the conductive sleeve (2), the chamber being connected via an opening (12) to the compressed air supply and effecting displacement of the piston when the compressed air supply is open in order to bring about contact with a terminal (10) connected to the lamp (26), and controlling return of the piston into its current-interrupting position under the action of a readjusting spring (8) when the compressed air supply is closed.
