The invention relates to a vehicle wheel with inner emergency running wheel which is composed of a plurality of, preferably four, segments. The segments having an essentially double T-shaped cross-section are each clamped into the groove of the full-drop centre by means of two clamping screws. In order to improve the mounting properties of the emergency running wheel, a free space which is kept completely free of installations is provided between the foot of the segment and the tyre beads, which space permits movability and easy alignment of the segment pieces in the circumferential direction. Axial grooves on the sole of the segment foot at a distance corresponding approximately to the diameter of the clamping screws facilitate the alignment, in terms of circumference, of the segments during mounting. Attachment of the segments with two screws in each case, all the screws being uniformly distributed over the circumference when the emergency running wheel is completely mounted, reduces the displacement paths of the segments in the circumferential direction in order to be able to screw them tight. An undercut hollow at the threaded holes permits a round cord ring to be held securely in a mechanical fashion for the sake of sealing the screws and permits the said ring to be inserted conveniently and without causing damage into the sealing point before the segments are mounted.
