The invention relates to a cutting device for cutting skins, leather or the like into strips, having a circular-knife roller, a needle roller arranged underneath the circular-knife roller and having rings of long radially oriented needles which engage between the circular knifes of the circular-knife roller, and a stripping device which engages between the needle rings on the outlet side of the needle roller and which lifts off the cut strips from the needles. So that strips of very small width can be cut on the cutting device, according to the invention there are used as a stripping device individual wire spring clips which, confronting the circular-knife roller, are guided between the needle rings from the entry side of the needle roller to the exit side, the wire spring clips move nearer to the axis of rotation of the needle roller from the tips of the needles to the butt ends of the needles in the inlet quarter circle of the needle roller, that is to say from the inlet side to the cutting region, and the wire spring clips move away from the axis of rotation of the needle roller from the butt ends of the needles to the tips of the needles again in the outlet quarter circle of the needle roller, that is to say from the cutting region to the outlet side.
