Device for mechanically prestressing a screw connection

By means of the device (see Figure), it is intended to be possible to prestress screw connections mechanically such that no torsional torque whatsoever is applied to the screw shank. Result: pure tensile stress, no computational safety margin required, consequently smaller screw dimensioning with more economical construction capabilities. Advantages with respect to previously normal prestressing methods (hydraulic, thermal): simple and quick in use, none of the auxiliary devices required there are necessary, bolt extension and hence the prestressing force can be measured easily without aids. Use: the invention is used anywhere where screw connections are dynamically stressed and prestressing is consequently necessary. <IMAGE>
