A novel compound is disclosed having the structure
<Chemistry id="chema01" num="0001"><Image id="ia01" he="49" wi="56" file="IMGA0001.TIF" imgContent="chem" imgFormat="TIFF" inline="no" /></Chemistry>in which R is lower alkyl and X is halogen or pseudohalogen. Also disclosed is a novel process for preparing the compound which comprises the steps of combining a compound having the structure
<Chemistry id="chema02" num="0002"><Image id="ia02" he="26" wi="56" file="IMGA0002.TIF" imgContent="chem" imgFormat="TIFF" inline="no" /></Chemistry>in which X is a halogen or pseudohalogen, and a compound havina the structure
<Chemistry id="chema03" num="0003"><Image id="ia03" he="25" wi="54" file="IMGA0003.TIF" imgContent="chem" imgFormat="TIFF" inline="no" /></Chemistry>in which R is lower alkyl and A is lower alkylidene to produce a first reaction mixture; adjusting the pH of the first reaction mixture to at least about 8 to produce a second reaction mixture; and recovering the compound or its salt from the second reaction mixture.
