PURPOSE:To obtain a inexpensive material for a rotor for a turbine comparable or superior to a conventional material by adding the most proper amount of B without adding Mo which is an expensive metallic element. CONSTITUTION:The composition of a material for a rotor for a turbine is composed of, by weight, 0.1-0.35% C, <0.6% Si, 0.2-1% Mn, 1.5-4% Ni, 1-2% Cr, 0.02-0.2% V, 0.001-0.002% B and the balance Fe with accompanying impurities without adding Mo which is an expensive metallic element. The metals in the composition are mixed and melted in vacuum or in the air, and the molten mixture is deoxidized, cast, and optionally, forged to form a rough body having the shape of a rotor for a turbine.
