PURPOSE:To contrive reducing of weight and lowering of a cost by making structure of the titled device simple, by method wherein an inner wall surface part of a cylinder made of a light metal guiding reciprocatably a piston fixed to a rack bar of a power steering gear is compounded and reinforced with short fiber. CONSTITUTION:A piston 4 fixed to a rack bar 2 of a power steering device is reciprocatable within a cylinder 1 made of a light alloy such as an aluminum alloy. An inner wall surface part 6 of cylinder 1 is compounded and reinforced with short fiber such as almina silica fiber. With this construction, structure is made simple and inexpensive and at the same time the whole of a cylinder is light because it is made of a light alloy. In addition to the above, wear-proof characteristic of the wall surface of the cylinder 1 is secured sufficiently, widening of the diameter and expansion of the cylinder are controlled effectively, seal between the piston and the wall surface of the cylinder is kept for a long period of time and durability can be improved.
