<p>The colors used in an image inputted through an image input section are recognized, and thereby the ratio of mixed color components of an image to be outputted is determined. According to the ratio, the color components are mixed, and the input image is converted to a monochromatic image, which is then outputted. A composite image comprising characters, a line drawing, and a halftone image is contracted by contracting the pseudo-density region, the character/line drawing region, and the other regions separately by different methods so as to avoid moiré, and the contracted image is outputted. A top/back image inputted through the input section is reversed by an image reversing section, the positional relationship is recognized, and the image is corrected to prevent reversal printing. Then the image is reversed again and outputted. The images on consecutive pages out of the images inputted page by page are aligned with each other by a page contour detecting section, a page content region extracting section, tilt correcting section, page position correcting section, and a page information processing section, and outputted from an image output section.</p> |
