PURPOSE:To improve sensitivity, gradation, and printing resistance, and to enhance humidity resistance and durability by using a thermosetting acrylic resin or melamine resin having hydroxyl groups or amide bonds as a binder. CONSTITUTION:A thermosetting acrylic or melamine resin having OH groups or amide bonds and at least 2 kinds of units of monomers of styrene, methyl methacrylate and n-butyl acrylate, is used as a binder of a photosensitive layer contg. a phthalocyanine (Pc) type photoconductor powder. The Pc type photoconductor to be used is copper type Pc, metal-free Pc, or their derivs.. Such a photoconductor has low induction effect, good gradation reproducibility and good photosensitivity, superior sensitivity stability during repeated uses, high physical strength of a photosensitive layer, and good humidity resistance and printing resistance, all peculiar to the Pc type photosensitive body. Not only abrasion and solvent resistances are enhanced but staining resistance is elevated. Much superior durability is obtained by using a combination of a binder and an epoxy resin.
