PURPOSE:To increase the drive force of a linear motor by forming pole teeth on a stator by etching or discharge machining, and black chromium or hard chromium plating the pole teeth and a guide, thereby reducing the magnetic resistance of a motor magnetic path. CONSTITUTION:After the flatness or smoothness of the main surface 24 of a planar member 10 is finished by polishing, a plurality of slits 20 are formd longitudinally at the prescribed pitch by etching or discharge machining at the center. Then, the center formed with the slits 20 are masked with a tape or a rubber masking agent, and the entire member 10 is hard chromium plated at 13 in a thickness of 10-20mum. Then, the mask is removed, hard chromium plated part 13 is masked, and black chromium plating 18 is formed in a thickness of 1-2mum at the center formed with the slots 20. The chromium plate part 13 is a guide 12, and a ball bearing 15 is moved.
