PURPOSE:To eliminate and prevent the backlash so as to prolong the life of a reduction gear, by arranging a input shaft coaxially with a flexible gear comprising a cuplike external gear and with an internal gear the number of the tooth of which is a little different from that of the flexible gear, and providing the input shaft with an axially slidable wave generator. CONSTITUTION:Though the wave generator 14 is secured to a shaft with respect to the rotational direction by a key 19, it can be slid axially. When the rotation is made, a force is axially generated from an output shaft 18 toward an input shaft 17 due to the meshing of a cuplike flexible gear 13 with an internal gear, and the position of the wave generator 14 is restricted by a nut 20. After a long operation, when backlash is produced between the meshed sections, the wave generator 14 is moved by the nut 20 toward the bottom of the flexible gear 13 to be secured. As a result, the flexible gear 13 is bent so that the major axis of the ellipse is made further longer, and the gears 12, 13 are meshed without backlash.
