PURPOSE:To retain compatibility with color television of conventional system and enable to transmit in relatively narrow frequency band by converting scanning signals of more than twice as many as conventional television into the number of scanning lines which is the same as conventional television, and transmitting them. CONSTITUTION:When signals of adjoining horizontal scannig time are added, and horizontal scanning period is doubled, a signal shown in A is obtained. The period T2 is twice as long as the period T1 and the same with horizontal scanning period of conventional television system. When the difference between signals of adjoining horizontal scanning times is taken and horizontal scanning period is doubled, a signal shown in B is obtained. As there is strong correlation between picture signals of adjoining horizontal scanning, the quality of picture hardly deteriorate even when high frequency component of B signal is removed. Accordingly, band compression of 25% can be made by restricting signal band of B to a half. When a signal shown in (a) is reproduced from signals A and B by a receiver, a video twice as precise as conventional television can be obtained. |
