PURPOSE:To enable to arbitrarily set a voltage applied to a load by regulating the reactive power inputted from an AC power source by a PWM converter in response to the magnitude of the AC input voltage. CONSTITUTION:The set value of a DC voltage setter 2 is compared by a voltage comparator 3 with the output of a voltage detector 12, and a voltage deviation signal is inputted to a multiplier 5. The multiplier 5 multiplies the voltage deviation signal by the output voltage of a transformer 4. On the other hand, the set value of an AC voltage setter 6 is compared by a voltage comparator 8 with the output of a voltage detector 7, a voltage deviation signal is inputted to a multiplier 9, which multiplies it by 90 deg. phase difference component of the power source voltage. After the outputs of the multipliers 5, 9 are added, the sum is compared by a comparator 12 with the output of a current transformer 11. A PWM converter 1 is controlled to be fired on the basis of the PWM signal outputted from the comparator 12.
