PURPOSE:To prevent an oil leakage due to a build-up of the inner pressure in a gear case by disposing a ball valve that closes a communication hole between a breather cap and a gear case breather passage in response to the rising oil level. CONSTITUTION:By the drive and driven movements of meshing gears 12, 22 disposed in a gear case 11, the oil in the case 11 becomes foamed, and the oil that rises breather passages C, B is released to a breather passage A through a clearance S2. Until said foamed oil reaches a ball valve 36, the inside of the case 11 is communicated to the atmosphere, allowing a normal breather function. When the oil reaches the ball valve 36, the ball valve 36 moves upward to close the lower opening 34a of the communication hole 34.
