PURPOSE:To enhance the responsiveness of a linear motor and to reduce the size and weight of the motor by disposing a plurality of movable coils between a plurality of stationary coils disposed at the prescribed interval so that the axial lines coincide. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of stationary coils 1 are disposed so that the axial lines coincide at the prescribed interval, and a plurality of coils 2 are disposed axially movably on the same axis as the coils 1. The coils 2 are coupled to each other, and disposed between adjacent stationary coils 1 to each other. The currets are supplied to the coils 1 to produce fluxes sequentially in opposite directions, and the currents are supplied to the coils 2 to produce the fluxes sequentially in reverse directions.
